Biography
Heath Butler is a Network Partner at Mercury Fund, where he manages the organization’s service provider network, strategic corporate relationships and focuses on investments in Enterprise SaaS, Improved Consumer Targeting and Tech-Enabled Services.
Prior to joining Mercury, Heath was Founder and Managing Director at Gestalt Theory Venture Partners, a private angel investment and advisory group focused infrastructure, innovation, and international investments. Heath was previously a corporate development executive at Insperity, a F1000, $4billion company and the nation’s leading HR outsourcing services company. During his time with Insperity, Heath held Managing Director roles of Capital Markets and Business Development as well as Division President of Insperity’s SaaS-based Financial Solutions subsidiary. Prior to Insperity, Heath led business development for EnergyWorkspace.com, founded a fin-tech startup and developed his foundational management skills at United Parcel Service. Heath received an MBA in Marketing from Texas Southern University’s Jesse H. Jones School of Business and a B.S. in Finance from the University of New Orleans, with a concentration in investments.
Outside of Mercury, Heath is an active angel investor and mentor in the Houston innovation community and was one of the founding investors in StationHouston, the programming partner of The Ion, Houston’s primary innovation district. He is passionate about educating, empowering and enabling entrepreneurial ecosystems, and recently co-founded two organizations focused on closing the innovation, job, and wealth gaps in urban communities across the country (the Innovation Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (iCUE), a non-profit focused on helping urban entrepreneurs and Urban Capital Network, an angel group focused on doing well, while doing good in urban communities).
